Terms of Service
Last updated: October 28, 2026
Illuminate is an open-source application with optional cloud sharing services. By using Illuminate's hosted services, you agree to these terms.
1. Use at your own risk
Illuminate is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
We don't guarantee that the app or its services will always work, remain available, be error-free, or meet your particular needs.
2. Your files, your responsibility
Your recordings, files, and content belong to you.
You are solely responsible for maintaining backups and protecting your content. Illuminate is not a backup service.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for lost, damaged, corrupted, deleted, exposed, or inaccessible files or recordings, including losses resulting from software errors, service interruptions, or third-party storage providers.
3. Sharing and privacy
You're responsible for what you record, upload, and share, including obtaining any necessary permissions.
Anyone with access to a public share link may be able to view or redistribute its contents. We cannot guarantee that shared content will remain private or available.
You grant us the limited permission necessary to operate and display content you choose to share through our hosted service.
4. Acceptable use
Don't use Illuminate to distribute illegal content, infringe others' rights, spread malware, harass others, or interfere with our services.
We may remove shared content, disable links, restrict accounts, or discontinue services when reasonably necessary.
5. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Illuminate and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, revenue, or business opportunities.
Our total liability arising from the hosted services will not exceed the amount you paid us for those services during the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
6. Open-source license
The Illuminate application's source code is governed by its applicable open-source license, available in its source repository. That license controls your rights to use, modify, and distribute the code.
7. General
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue our hosted services. We may also update these terms, with notice of material changes where appropriate.
