Illuminate is developed and operated by Sean Vosler ("we," "us," or "our"). This policy explains how we collect and use information when you use the illuminate application, websites, and cloud services, including illu.mov and its subdomains.
The short version: Your recordings belong to you and are stored locally unless you choose to share or process them through a connected service. We collect basic account information, usage analytics, and the information necessary to operate and improve illuminate. We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use your recordings to train AI models.
1. Information We Collect
Depending on how you use illuminate, we may collect:
- Account information: Your name, email address, profile picture, account identifiers, and authentication details provided through services such as Google Sign-In.
- Usage analytics: Information about how you interact with illuminate, including feature usage, page views, general device information, application versions, and performance statistics.
- Technical information: IP addresses, browser information, device and operating system details, error reports, and diagnostic logs needed for security, troubleshooting, and service reliability.
- Shared content: Titles, descriptions, transcripts, summaries, metadata, media references, and other information you intentionally publish through illuminate's sharing services.
- Communications: Messages, feedback, support requests, and contact information you voluntarily provide.
- Billing information: Subscription status, transaction history, and payment-related details supplied by our payment processors. We do not directly store complete payment card numbers.
We may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for authentication, preferences, analytics, and essential website functionality.
2. Your Recordings and Files
Your recordings, screenshots, transcripts, and other locally created content remain yours.
Illuminate is designed to store recordings locally on your Mac. We do not automatically upload your recordings to our servers.
When you choose to share content or use an external integration:
- Information you select for publishing may be uploaded to our hosting infrastructure.
- Videos may be stored through your connected cloud storage provider or through illuminate's optional hosting services.
- AI integrations may transmit selected content to the AI provider you connect, subject to that provider's privacy practices.
We do not claim ownership of your content, and we do not use your recordings or transcripts to train our own AI models.
You are responsible for maintaining backups of your local files.
