# Walkthroughs

A walkthrough plays your recording's steps as screenshots, one after another, each zooming to what you clicked, with the step's words underneath. It's made from the same session as the video, so there's nothing extra to do.

Walkthroughs are good for:

- **How-tos and SOPs:** people follow along at their own pace, step by step.
- **AI agents:** an agent reads the steps and images without watching a video.
- **Small links:** with no video, nothing big is uploaded and the link is ready at once.

## Share one

1. Share the session as usual.
2. Under your illuminate link, choose **Walkthrough**:
   - **with the video:** the walkthrough appears under the player as *Step by step*;
   - **walkthrough only:** no recording is uploaded; the walkthrough is the page.
3. Send your link.

Sharing again updates the walkthrough.

## Sharper screenshots

For a how-to you plan to share as a walkthrough, turn on **Take a screenshot at each click** before you record. illuminate then takes a full-resolution screenshot just after each click, so the zooms stay crisp.

## On the page

The walkthrough plays when it scrolls into view. Viewers can pause, step back and forward with the arrows or the keyboard, or jump to any step. Anyone who prefers less motion sees the steps as a simple list.
